September is my absolute favorite month of the year! It just has a lot going for it with the start of a cozy new season, memories of back to school time, apple picking, and outdoor carnivals & fairs. It also happens to be my birthday month, not that it makes me a bit biased or anything (ok, it kinda does).
This year, I decided I wanted to spend my birthday close to my family in South Florida, so a road trip was planned. Now, I’ve done this pilgrimage to my family home many times and am very familiar with the drive, but I’ve always just blown through only worried about completing it in the shortest amount of time possible. Sometimes driving for 14 hours straight (not fun). So this time I set a few stops along the way and made it more of a real road trip with camping and sight seeing.
One of those stops was Charleston, South Carolina and boy did I swoon big time over this charming southern city…
The city is so full of history and style with restored brick masonry, lush hidden alleyways and luxe details like the garage door above. Lovely low country style was was everywhere and around every corner.
I stumbled upon the most extraordinary honey shop, you just have to see to believe it. Every possible form of honey on full display. How could you resist?
I had such a wonderful time in Charleston and I hope to be able to return many times. There is so much left to be explored, I feel it deserves more than just one visit. I’m definitely glad to be back to my neck of of the woods though, and just in time to watch the leaves start to change and get in on all the fall fun!
